ABOUT OUR BUSINESS

We are proud to present our secondhand clothing business called AKA Fashion. The idea behind this business is very simple, and stems from our love and passion for clothes, as well as for protecting the environment. AKA Fashion aims to reduce the environmental impact caused by overproduction and overconsumption caused by the fashion industry, which is responsible for 10% of humanity’s carbon emissions. Clothing production has roughly doubled since 2000, and now is the time to put an end to this. All too often we see people buy clothes to keep up with the latest trends, which end up in their wardrobes after a few weeks, never to be worn again. Many high street brands, whose names we don’t feel comfortable sharing, put out around 24 collections a year. In 2000, the average number of collections offered by such companies was 2, which shows a massive increase, and this trend is set to continue, hence the need for businesses such as AKA Fashion, 

AKA Fashion understands the need to refresh the wardrobe, as wearing new clothes can make us feel confident and happy, which is why we have created this business. Given the current economic crisis due to covid, and the issues relating to climate change, a second hand clothing business seems like the perfect solution. Our small shop, which will be located right in the heart of Cadiz, will allow people to bring their used clothes and exchange them for other clothes or money, or purchase. This means that people will be changing up their styles all the time, without harming the environment or their wallets. The business will be run by three employees- Eryka and Ana as the owners and the managers of the shop, and one more employee, who will be in charge of washing the clothes, and making sure that they are in perfect condition to be resold or exchanged, as well as putting on new labels and price tags.
